US Citizens: Can we please have a do-over?

Whenever I get a chance to play golf, I always request “two off the first tee” otherwise known as; “I have no idea where the first ball is going to land so can I please have a second attempt to hit the ball?” If I happen to hit the ball in the fairway, I will pretend that I did exactly what I wanted to do.

According the this poll from Rasmussen, it looks like the US Citizens are asking for their own vesion of “two off the tee”. According to the poll, 57% of Americans would like to replace Entire Congress and just 25% of voters nationwide would keep the current batch of legislators. There is one ray of hope for congress; 18% are not sure how they would vote. The following graph from Graph Jam spells this situation our pretty clearly:congressvcitizens

One might look at this situation and be discouraged, but I think that this might be the first issue that a majority of Americans can agree on. The really good news is that we have the opportunity to replace the entire congress within six years. According to Article I of this:

constitution

“The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.”

“The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.”

We have no one to blame, but ourselves.
